When to arrive
The most important tip: arrive early. Pena Palace gets extremely crowded after 10:30 AM. Being there when the palace opens at 9:30 AM makes a huge difference.
Tickets and skip-the-line
There are two separate tickets: Palace + Park (full visit) and Park Only. Buy skip-the-line tickets online to avoid the queues, which can be 45+ minutes in summer.
What to wear
The walk from the entrance to the palace is steep and takes 15-20 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes. Sintra is often cooler than Lisbon, so bring layers.
